As the current president of the Interior Design Society (IDS) Houston Chapter, I am super excited to announce that our team has won the 2023 #idsIMPACT Group Award! We collaborate with the interior design program at the fantastic Carver Pathways in Technology Early College, and it’s been an amazing experience.
Just a little backstory, #idsIMPACT began at the 2015 IDS National Conference as a community-engagement initiative. IDS really values giving back to the community, and since 2016, we’ve encouraged each member to offer pro bono design services for their local communities. It’s all about making a difference!
We feel so fortunate to mentor Carver P-TECH students and teach them the ropes of interior design. Together, we work on real-world projects covering everything from interior design fundamentals and technical drawing to textiles, materials, and professional practices.
Our partnership also helps these talented students prepare for today’s workforce by guiding them through valuable state licensing requirements via the National Council of Interior Design Qualification exam and licensing through The Texas Board of Architectural Examiners.
Plus, we’re proud to share that P-TECH students can earn an associate degree in applied science interior design thanks to an amazing partnership with Houston Community College. We even offer internships and priority interviews for qualified P-TECH participants.
It truly warms my heart to be able to help shape the future of interior design professionals through this meaningful partnership.
